Merry Christmas From Israel

Jerusalem, December 2nd 2020

Dear Friends, Shalom!
Merry Christmas. (*our most recent family picture is attached to the letter.) Though in most of the countries around the world this Christmas will be celebrated differently than in former years, the greatest celebration should be in our heart, thanking God for bringing us the wonderful savior, Jesus. Many families will see their beloved ones only through a screen, and our hearts will overflow emotionally, but that will teach us to better understand the power of prayer and the sufficiency of Christ for us.
Our church will conduct a special service focusing on Jesus as our Savior. A few will be in the church and the rest will stay at home, joining us through Zoom.

As God’s children, we should know that God has a purpose in such a time of the pandemic. We should continue to pray for the repentance of nations and that God’s name will be glorified. The pandemic affects all, but we keep our eyes on our Lord. Actually, during the last year, we experienced God’s grace and sovereignty in wonderful new ways. So, May God’s name be honored and glorified always!

Helping the needy

Last week a few unknown people called my private phone on different occasions and said: “I got your number from a friend who told me that you can help”. I noticed the accent and the tone of speech and it was clear that these people do need help. The following day both men came to meet with me at different hours. One came out of jail and the other from an addiction recovery clinic. In this stage, I did not ask for the identity of the person who sent them but was busy with providing their immediate needs: Food, paying utility bills, and re-filling their public transportation card. While speaking with one of them, an Arab woman came into the church, asking if we need any cleaning workers. She too was welcomed and though we did not need a cleaning worker, she left with bags of food and loving hospitality. By the way, all the three are Arab Israeli none believers of whom two are Muslims.

Yesterday evening I got another call from a different person, saying that he got my number from a guy who told him that we can help. This time I asked the person to connect me with this special unknown “Santa Klaus”. While we will continue to help the needy and share the gospel with the ones who came, we would love to continue this important ministry but in an orderly way.

The people we met reminded us how much suffering there is in our world, and how much lost people need the Lord.  The ones who came to us are usually the ones who fall between the cracks. May God continue to soften our hearts for the true needs of people.

Besides, the church continues to help and support the needy families. According to yesterday’s news headlines, the third wave of the Covid19 is on the way. That means that many businesses and working places will remain closed. University students are out of jobs but still need to pay the full tuition even when all the studies are through the Zoom. We are helping as we can so that none of the students in our church will have to quit the studies and be able to finish the coming semesters well.

Update on the New Church Plant

Let me start with a praise to God, saying that: We are still missing $270,000 for the completion of the purchase and $300,000 for the furnishing of the place. By God’s grace, the amount is lower by $210,000 since the last update.

Please prayerfully consider partnering with us in this project.

The contractor decided to build another floor to the complex. Since there will be some changes in the floor construction, he negotiates with us about the new options that may arise etc. All we were promised in our original contract will be kept. Please pray for wisdom to handle these issues.

Evangelism

The Coronavirus did stop people from coming to the church, but did not and cannot stop the gospel from coming to the hearts of the lost. We are currently using our gospel video clips as our main tool for evangelism through the Internet. The new (#6 of 7) video clip on the Resurrection is now in process. The team has a draft of the animation and by God’s grace, it may be finished during January 2021. We are hiring an external contractor (believer in Jesus) for the animation part. The last video clip of this series (#7) will be titled: The return of the King, and we are now in the text writing stage. Please keep this evangelism project in your prayers. These video clips have now reached more than 4 Million viewers!!!

Handling the church in a pandemic period

The headline tells it all. Indeed, it is a struggling effort. We continue to run most of the children’s activities in the church (within the Covid-19 limitations). Most of the kids do come to these activities. All the other activities are done through Zoom. We are praying for wisdom and hope not to miss any of the families. The main thing we are currently busy with is the home visitations. Seeing each family member eye to eye, praying with them, and checking if all their vital needs are met.
A few weeks ago, some of our youth group spent a few days helping a woman from our church in her agricultural work. They picked the olives in her grove and helped her put the firewood for winter in the shed. This was a tremendous help for her, she is handicapped and it is very difficult for her to do this by herself.

Please pray that we will handle God’s children in any way that glorifies our lord.

My students at the Israel College of the Bible

Two of my students in the “Jesus through the Old Testament” course are new believers who are coming from an orthodox family. Their family rejected them and actually the believers whom they know, are their new family. God willing this Friday they will have the Shabbat dinner with us.
Please pray for the two brothers, that their faith in Jesus will grow day by day.

Our daughter church in South Sudan.

About thirteen years ago a flood of Sudanese entered into Israel through the open border with Egypt in the Sinai desert. Thomas Wango is one of the young refugees we adopted and sent to the bible school in Nazareth. Five years later Thomas (Atom) returned to South Sudan and now he is one of the elders in the local church at his village. During that time, we sent the money to necessary build their church building. Three years ago, Thomas started a mini bible college in his village, where people join for extra bible lessons and education. We continue to support Thomas who is now married and a father of four. Please continue to pray for Thomas, his wife Esther, and their family.

I will end with the encouraging words from Psalm 23.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. (KJV).

With much love and gratitude, Meno and Anat Kalisher

COVID-19 Update

“Though he slay me, yet will I trust him:” Job 13:15a

SPECIAL COVID-19 UPDATE

APRIL 2020

Dear Project Nehemiah Partners,

Greetings in the name of our wonderful Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ! When Job wrote the above verse in Job 13:15, he was going through the most difficult time he had ever experienced in his life. Yet, his faith in God was unwavering! GOVERNMENT

RESTRICTIONS
Like most of you, Israel is under complete lockdown. The airport is closed for all passenger service to both returning Israeli citizens as well as for foreign travelers. All restaurants, malls, national parks, beaches, entertainment venues, and all non-essential workplaces are closed. If you are required to go outside for groceries, hospital, or doctor visits, you MUST wear a facemask. The distance you can walk from your residence is limited to 100 meters or 330 feet for exercise and to walk your pet. According to the newspapers, Israel has issued 26,000 tickets to violators, since the full “lock-down” went into effect. At this rate, workers might not need to go back to work to keep the economy up-and-running!

GOD IS GOOD
We praise the Lord that none of our staff or their families have been infected with the coronavirus. Despite our limited movement because of the government restrictions, we have been able to witness to family and friends using social media. Some of our family members seem to have hearts more receptive than ever to the gospel because of the coronavirus. We ask that you

PLEASE PRAY
For the Lord to continue using us to share the “Good News of Jesus Christ with those who will listen!

MAKING ADJUSTMENTS
Before the full lockdown went into effect, we were able to make food and blanket deliveries to Holocaust survivors, living in retirement-home-type-facilities, in three different cities: Dimona, Rehovot, and Gedara. Because of the “social distancing limits,’ we were forced to adjust how we normally hand the recipients their gifts. On these deliveries, we were required to place the sacks of food and blankets in a pre-designated room. Later each person would come, one-by-one, to receive a food basket and a blanket.

TRUSTING GOD
None of us knows how long this coronavirus is going to affect our personal, family, and ministry life. What is certain, however, is that the Lord is in control and He knows EXACTLY what He is doing and for what purpose He has allowed this test to come into our lives. Our responsibility, as His children, is to trust Him, as a job trusted Him, in this time of trial.

GOD IS FAITHFUL! PLEASE PRAY FOR US, AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED FINANCIAL AND PRAYER SUPPORT OF THIS MINISTRY!

For the Messiah, Allen Lord

Heart Felt Thanks

Dear Christians for Biblical Israel,

First of all, I want to thank you for your support of Project Nehemiah. God has promised us in Genesis 12:3, “And I will bless them that bless thee…,” a blessing to those who love the Jewish people. How better can we show our love to them than by helping with their physical and spiritual needs. Prayerfully, the gifts you help provide will open doors for us to share Christ with them, who is the only one capable of filling their spiritual needs.

Enclosed are translated thank you letters from grateful people who were recently partakers of your gift of love to Project Nehemiah. At each delivery, we encourage those who receive gifts to write a personal note of thanks to the individual donor who provided their gift. It is a personal touch which links you and the person receiving the gift in a special way.

Please accept our heartfelt thanks for the sacrificial gifts and prayers you offer to our ministry and for the special partnership, we have with you in sharing the love of Christ with both Jews and Gentiles in Israel.

Project Jerusalem Assembly 11/14/2019

                                    Jerusalem, November 14th, 2019

Dear Friends, Shalom.

We are studying through 2nd Chronicles in our weekly home prayer group. As I was teaching chapter 17 we got a reminder of the purpose of the people of Israel in the kingdom of the Messiah. King Jehoshaphat who was a godly king, sent his officials and priests (Bible teachers) to all the villages in Judah in order to teach the Word of God to all the people. God honored such a holy venture and caused the nations around to fear the Lord. Apparently, the closer the people of Israel are to the Lord, the less military army they need. The more the chosen people are closer to God, the better it is to the whole nations around. It is a blessed reminder of what will happen in the future. But as for us today, let us bring the Word of God to all people. Let us do the things that glorify the name of our Lord. One of them is: Share the gospel with your Jewish friend/neighbor – provoke them to jealousy (Romans 11:11-16.

Teaching Trip to the USA

During September my wife and I participated in the yearly Friends of Israel prophecy conference in Lancaster, PA. It was a blessing to meet our friends and share the ministry with many people. As the conference ended, Anat (my wife), Jael (our daughter) and Irit (They both run YUVAL Christian arts and Music ministry) left immediately to Germany in order to present their ministry at a conference and also lead as a worship team. Anat was with them as a translator to German. Meanwhile, I stayed in the U.S and flew to Minnesota to teach in aq supporting.  By God’s grace all went well. It was a great blessing to meet with brothers and sisters in faith, and share pearls from the Word of God.

Teaching trip to Brazil

Shortly after returning from the U.S.A we left to Brazil. The purpose was to participate in the yearly Midnight call Brazil teaching conference. As Jael and Irit were part of the worship team, my part was teaching. The main teachings in Sau Paulo and Curitiba were from the book of Psalms.

The Book of Psalms is not a songbook, but a prophetic book on Christ Jesus. The chapters are arranged in order to teach a story in which Christ is the center (cf. Luke 24:44-47). This ministry report is too short to enter into deep explanations, but you can view the lessons (also in English) through our church website: www.jerusalemassembly.com

The Core Group and Facility for the New Church Plant

By God’s grace, the core group of the new church met for prayer and shared the vision of that church. The group was happy and encouraged. Though we participated in the past in helping to start churches and establish new church leadership, this “baby” is a soft point in my heart.

The yellow marked area is the section we purchase for the new church plant. It is a small part, a corner on the top floor. The construction will finish God willing in two and a half years.

About 10 months ago we signed the purchase contract. It is a hall (270 m2) and a balcony (220 m2) to fit the newborn congregation. The location is towards the west just outside Jerusalem. Until the place is ready, we prayerfully continue to establish the core and better equip the new leadership for the coming responsibilities.

The Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry (www.foi.org), helped and continues to help us with the purchase project. During the last almost three years, brothers and sisters in the U.S.A donated through F.O.I. about $800,000. Part of it was already paid as a down payment on the contract.

The total project price (purchase plus preparing the place to be a church – House of Prayer facility) is about $1.7M. We still need $500,000 to pay (during the next two years) for the facility. Besides the purchase sum, we will need about $400,000 to furnish the place so it will serve as a local church (Rooms, chairs, offices, restrooms, etc.).

Why not just rent?

From our past and current experience, any time we rented from non-believers, the owners were pressured and threatened by Anti-Christian groups to end the contract with us “or else…”

We need your help!

Our church is one minded and each person will continue to give faithfully and sacrificially. However, it is a God-size project for us, and we do need the “hands” of the brothers and sisters in the body of Christ.

Please prayerfully consider partnering with us in this project.

God is good to us! We are currently enjoying a full house. Each Saturday morning, the Main Church Hall is full, and the overflow is directed to the Fellowship Hall. We are blessed to see people getting saved – Jews and Gentiles alike. We thank God that every week we can practically experience Romans 15:10-11 “And again he says, Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people. And again, Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles; and let all the peoples praise Him.”

We pray that the new-planted church will be light in its area, and be used by God to bring the gospel to the lost.

Evangelism Ongoing Projects

Our media team launched a new evangelism video clip: “Five facts you did not know about the New Testament”. Each video clip (in this series) is very simple and clear. Our website address is added, so anyone can visit and read/watch all our teaching materials.

In two months, 300,000 people watched the video clip. We pray that the message will penetrate hearts and bring the people to call on Christ Jesus for salvation.

This video clip is added to many others done earlier. A few more are being prepared as well. You can watch all the video clips with English subtitles  http://jerusalemassembly.com/media-ministry/

We hope you will enjoy watching and encourage others to watch and use it for evangelism. (My favorite video clip is the one on Isaiah 53). All our church’s lessons are also available on the website. They are all: English/Hebrew

Tracts outreach:

Each week, a team from our church walks through the neighborhoods and places gospel tracts in mailboxes (It is legal in Israel). We regularly print our gospel tracts. We pray for the salvation of our nation.

YUVAL

Jael (our oldest daughter), Irit Iffert and Sasha Atlas are the managing teams of “Yuval Christian School for Music and Arts”. Our church is heavily involved with the school. Kids from all evangelical churches in Jerusalem are registered for the music and art classes at “Yuval”. Many of the kids have both parents working, and their houses are still empty during the after-school hours. So, instead of these kids getting involved with bad company, YUVAL offers them music and art classes. All the teachers are believers. The kids can hang out in the school area, and are kept from trouble. Some just step into the offices and share their hearts with the staff. So, the teachers’ role is more than just teaching music and arts…

In comparison to other schools, the classes are cheaper, but still many of the families cannot afford to pay. That’s where we step in and try to help.

You can visit YUVAL website http://yuvalarts.org Please continue to pray for Jael and Irit. Their support is totally depended on donations.

With much love and gratitude, (Psalms 132-133, A holy and pure fellowship can take place only after making peace with the Messiah from Ephrathah)

Jerusalem, September 1st 2019 Dear Friends, Shalom.      All are back to school. The first day of September is the national day of back to school. What does that mean to us? Our kids are back to school but also all the mid-week children activities are back as well.      By God’s grace, we had five blessed camps to different age groups during July-August. The cherry on the cake is the baptisms of a few of the youth group and the growing desire of the youth to walk with Christ. The parents are thankful for the changes they see in their kids’ life. We can only say: Our faithful God answers our prayers. To God be the glory.      Another reason to praise God is the few new families added to the church in the last few months. We pray that our hearts will remain focused on Christ, in order to experience more of God’s grace. More in this report:

Back to writing books      During 2014 I went back to Bible school. Due to the load of work, all the writing projects were suspended. Now that I am in the last stage (waiting for the corrections of the dissertation), I am back to finish the light commentary for the Book of Proverbs (For youth). After checking it again, it is ready for proofreading. I pray that it will be ready for printing during the first half of 2020.      ‘All the Parables of Christ’, and ‘The Appointed times of the Lord’ are the other books we are working on. Helmut (another elder in our church) continued where I stopped and did a superb job. Now we go over the material and God willing give it a push until it is ready for printing.      Meanwhile, the “FUTURE” booklet was translated into Arabic, and now it is in the last text check. God willing it may be printed as soon as next month. As much as I know, such material is not available in Arabic, so we are so eager to make it available to our Arabic speaking brothers and sisters in Israel and anywhere else. New evangelism project      Our media team launched a new evangelism video clip: “Five facts you did not know about the New Testament”. Each video clip (in this series) is very simple and clear. The Facility for the New Church Plant      By God’s grace, I will add the picture and ground plans for the new facility in the next ministry report. Also, I will explain why we do not share in this moment all the technical info.      About half a year ago we signed a purchase contract for a facility for the new church we are planting. Ministry trip to Singapore and USA.     During the first week of August, I went with seven other pastors and heads of different Christian ministries to Singapore. The purpose was to establish relationships with like-minded churches. I got a few opportunities to teach in the main conference and also in a local church on Sunday morning and in the afternoon. The trip was a blessed experience. It looks like it will not be the last one.      This coming Tuesday (Sep. 3rd) I will be flying to attend the yearly Friends of Israel prophecy conference in Lancaster, PA. During that visit, I will try to visit friends and supporting churches. After the conference, I will go to Minnesota to visit and teach in a supporting church.      During the first part, my wife Anat will join me together with our daughter Jael. Jael will participate in the FOI conference introducing YUVAL ministry. Jael and Irit (both are leading YUVAL ministry), will be the music worship team in the conference. Later, they will fly to Germany to participate in another conference, where Anat will be the translator to German. Please pray that all goes well for the glory of God. Teaching in the Israel Bible College      As the D. Min. program is finishing, new assignments are coming up. By God’s grace, I will teach an intensive course “Messiah in the Old Testament” during February 2020 in Netanya.      Needless to say, I am in love with this topic. I pray that the teaching will enrich the students and equip them for ministry, to stand for their faith in Jesus. August- October 2019

“Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all.” 1 Chronicles 29:11

When King Davis was quoting the words in 1 Chronicles chapter 29, the children of Israel, including David himself, were bring abundant offerings of gold, silver, and precious stones in preparation for the building of a “palace” (Temple) for God that David’s son, Solomon, had been commissioned by God to build.

Just as the children of Israel and King David gave of their material possessions “willingly,” the staff of Project Nehemiah is blessed to see, every month, the faithful, financial provisions which you, our partners, give so that we can help Jewish families as they begin a new life in Israel. This summer, your gifts have provided needed assistance to those people living in the following cities:

  • Bat Yam
  • Ashkelon
  • Be’er Sheva
  • Dimona
  • Haifa
  • Rehovot
  • Kiryat Ata.

Not only do your gifts supply the needed “physical” food to these dear people, but also on every delivery a clear presentation of the “good news” of Jesus Christ is given to them to them as well! Our prayer for all of Israel is the same that David prayed in 1 Chronicles 29:18, ” O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel , our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee.” May God truly reward each one of you for your sacrifice, and may Jewish people be saved.

For the Messiah and from the entire staff of Project Nehemiah,

Allen Lord, Director

MAY-JULY 2019

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die…” Ecclesiastes 3:1-2a

SADNESS AND HAPPINESS

Recently, my wife, Hagit, and I have experienced both of the extremes mentioned in the verse above. On May 21, 2019,after a relatively short illness, Hagit’s father, David Yermiyahiou, passed away. He was 91 years old. Please pray for the Hagit and for her Mom, Doris, her brothers Siman and Eli and for her sister, Miriam. Hagit is the only person in her family who is saved. However, on May 25, just four days after Hagit’s father died, little Daniela was born to Hagit’s niece Sapir. Sapir is the daughter of Hagit’s sister, Miriam. Although the death of Hagit’s father has brought much sadness into the family in recent days, the joy of a new baby being born into the family has put a smile of happiness on each of our faces. THANK YOU FOR PRAYING FOR HAGIT AND HER FAMILY.

SUMMER VOLUNTEERS

This summer, the Lord has blessed us with volunteers who are here to not only help us with the deliveres for Project Nehemiah but also to help us give a little much-needed TLC to our office and warehouse. PLEASE PRAY for Josh Wolfrey, Tim Yerimov and Michael Frank (not pictured), all recent college graduates who are searching God’s will for their lives as they serve with us during these few months.

NEW ARRIVALS

Our latest deliveries have shown that new immigrants continue to come to Israel in record number. On two separate deliveries to the northern Israeli port city of Haifa, we have helped over 100 families, most of whom have recently come to Israel. Your prayers and financial support are helping reach these precious people with the gospel message of hope that only comes through Jesus, the Messiah.

HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS

Not much has changed since the world’s hatred of the Jews was grossly manifested in the murder of more than 6 million by Adolph Hitler and his German army in WWII. I say this because, just a few weeks ago, once again, the southern part of Israel was exposed to some 700 rockets fired by Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists from Gaza in an effort to kill Jewish people. Dozens of towns were hit by rockets including the town of Ashdod and were successful in their mission of killing people. Despite these attacks, just a few days after the bombings ended, Project Nehemiah made a delivery to 38 Holocaust survivors in Ashdod. A few days later, although Hamas was not successful here, we made a delivery to the city of Ofakim, which is just south of Ashdod and only 18 miles from Gaza. At Ofakim, thanks to your PRAYERS AND FINANCIAL GIFTS, we were able to offer food and blankets to another 70 Holocaust survivors or their children. Not only should you be praying for the salvation of these survivors but also we ask that you PRAY FOR THE SAFETY of Project Nehemiah workers as we minister to those dear people in such turbulent times. Without your partnership, we would not be able to continue the ministry of PN. Although the Lord continues to give us new partners almost every month, we thank the Lord for you who have faithfully supported this work for years. Your prayers and liberality is a testimony of the Lord’s faith fullness to supply our needs and as a result of your obedience to His promise of blessing those who bless His people, Genesis 12:3a “And I will bless them that bless thee…” hundreds of new Israelis are exposed to the love of Christ each month. THANK YOU for letting us be your partner in this great work!

For the entire Staff of Project Nehemiah,

Allen Lord, Director
